Although the color patterns are the same for both Paints and Pintos, there is a difference in their definition. Pintos are a color registry and can be made up of any breed with the color patterns. Paint horses must have a specific bloodline with stock horse blood or Thoroughbred blood registered with either the AQHA, APHA or the Jockey Club (Thoroughbreds). There is also a minimum color requirement for Paint horses. This is a page for Paint horses. Pintos are on another page.
